Helen Marjan

OIC Chief of Education and Education Manager - UNICEF, Jordan

Helen Marjan is an Education Manager with UNICEF Jordan, where she leads high-impact programmes to strengthen foundational learning, teacher development and inclusive education at system level. Working in close partnership with the Ministry of Education and key stakeholders, she plays a central role in shaping national approaches to literacy, numeracy and teacher professional development. Her work contributes directly to education reform efforts in Jordan, with a strong focus on improving learning outcomes for vulnerable and marginalised children.

Helen brings over 30 years of international experience in education, having worked across Singapore, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong in a range of leadership, teaching and advisory roles. She has served as a Consultant Teaching Fellow with three UK universities, where she has also tutored Master’s-level students from around the world, specialising in language education and materials development. Her professional background combines practical classroom expertise with strong academic foundations in education.

In addition to her core portfolio, Helen is leading an EdTech initiative funded under the Learning Pioneers Programme, linked to UNICEF’s Global Innovation Hub. This work explores how technology can be harnessed for good to support more inclusive, scalable and effective learning solutions, particularly in low-resource contexts.

Through the EdTech Fellowship, Helen hopes to further deepen her expertise in digital transformation in education. She is particularly interested in how EdTech can drive system-level change and support equitable access to quality learning. She also looks forward to engaging with a global network of Fellows, exchanging ideas, and contributing insights from her work in Jordan and beyond.
