Skander Ghenia is a General Engineer who is the current Director General of the National Centre for Technologies in Education in Tunisia. He is also a long-time senior public sector leader with nearly 30 years of experience leading national initiatives aimed at enhancing the use of technology in education, providing better digital services to students, families and educators, and supporting the modernisation of the education system. Moreover, his current work will assist in increasing access, improving efficiency and enhancing the quality of education across the Tunisian educational system.
Over his long career at the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Communication Technologies, Skander has held senior leadership roles in multiple areas. As such he also serves as the Director General of the International Centre for Training of Trainers and Pedagogical Innovation, and Director General of IT and E-Administration at the Ministry of Education.
Additionally, he has been instrumental in developing many significant national programmes that support digital education, school connectivity, educational data systems, teacher training and pedagogical innovation. Earlier in his career he held numerous strategic positions within the telecommunications, digital governance and public sector information systems areas.
Skander obtained his engineering degree in Computer Science from Tunis’ Faculty of Sciences and has a university diploma in Mathematics/Physics. He has completed various professional certifications as well as executive training programmes in e-government, project management, IT service management, digital accessibility and education reform and EdTech policy.
His interests lie in studying international best practices in education reform through the Fellowship, and engaging with peers in education, comparing experiences to see innovative ways to create an inclusive, resilient, future-ready educational system for Tunisia.
