HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship: Europe and Central Asia

We recently invited senior education policy and organisation leaders in Central and Eastern Europe & Central Asia to apply to join leaders from previous global cohorts on the HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship. We developed this programme to support leaders at the forefront of digital education transformation with the skills, knowledge and network to implement change.

A global community driving education technology transformation

Now is a pivotal moment for the digital transformation of education in Central and Eastern Europe & Central Asia.

Across the region, governments are making significant investments in education systems.

From improving school performance by developing innovative evaluation systems to upgrading schools’ technology and connectivity.

About our programme

Dates

Hybrid programme January to June 2025, with a residential module in Cambridge in April 2025.

£25,000

Scholarships are available for some applicants to cover the full or partial programme fees.

Who should apply?

Senior government officials and civil servants responsible for digital transformation in K12 public schools on a regional or national scale in a country in Central or Eastern Europe or Central Asia. Leaders of organisations outside of the government that hold or support these responsibilities are also welcome to apply.

What will you learn?

The fellowship follows a three-strand curriculum, looking at:

EdTech

  • How you can use EdTech to improve learning outcomes across your national education system
  • What research shows about what works and what does not when it comes to EdTech
  • How AI can support digital transformation in education
  • How to evaluate the quality and safety of EdTech solutions, data use and protection, and innovative and alternative financing mechanisms

Policy

  • How you can use evidence and user-centred design to address challenges in your education system
  • How you can build a prototype of a solution, develop that solution and scale it
  • How to embed continuous improvement into the whole process
  • How to create and implement a coordinated governance and regulation strategy, including cross-sectoral collaboration at the national and regional levels. From mapping policy gaps and challenges to assisting participants to develop a governance framework

Leadership

  • How you can mobilise stakeholders from across government, the private sector and civic society to lead a coalition for change
  • How you can secure and grow the confidence of colleagues and end-users, such as teachers and students, throughout
  • How you can develop framework guidelines to help you plan for scale at the beginning of EdTech projects

The curriculum will draw on perspectives and examples from around the world but will be tailored to meet the specific needs of participants from Central and Eastern Europe & Central Asia

Online learning

Around the residential academy in Cambridge, you will explore a variety of topics through a mix of learning formats, including:

  • Live online workshops: This includes reflection on current practices, case studies, collaboration in small groups, plenary discussions and expert guest speakers
  • Hands-on project: You will work on a hands-on project prototype, with the opportunity to get feedback on your plans and support with your key challenges
  • Independent learning: Review of digital and printed materials, engagement in discussion forums, sharing reflections and questions
  • Coaching: One-to-one executive leadership coaching sessions

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for some applicants to cover the full or partial programme fees.

Residential academy

During the programme, participants will meet in the UK for a five-day residential academy. You will explore adaptive leadership and user-centred design. You will investigate an EdTech challenge that you want to address with your own prototype.

You will stay in Cambridge and enjoy some of the rich experiences of university life, including dinner at an historic college.

One-to-one leadership coaching

During the programme, you will enjoy a short series of personalised coaching sessions, including one-to-one meetings, to enhance your leadership confidence and skills in the context of particular challenge you are facing.

Programme fees

The programme fees cover all tuition, teaching and learning materials, accommodation while in Cambridge and coaching. Please note, they do not include the cost of flights or visas.

Programme dates

The programme will run from January to June 2025, with a residential week in Cambridge in April 2025.

Course structure

Overall commitment of four hours a week:

  • Two-hour tutor-led session per week; the session is scheduled based on the fellow time zone
  • A two-hour commitment is required for the preparation of activities such as pre-reading or a defined pre-workshop task. The independent learning time should be spent on post-session activities such as readings or homework.

Confirmation of place

Final places will be confirmed in December 2024. Please note, places and scholarships may be awarded on a rolling basis.

What happens after the fellowship?

On graduating the five-month hybrid programme, you will become part of a global network to continue to share knowledge and trends. Through this alumni network you will connect, learn, support one another, and shape an international conversation around EdTech policy design and implementation.
