Mr Abdirizak Ibrahim is the Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education in Somalia. He holds an MEd Degree with Distinction from the University of Mysore in India.
In his current role, Abdirizak is responsible for establishing a robust monitoring and evaluation system for Somalia’s Education Sector Strategic Plan (2022 -2026). He works closely with the National and Federal Member State Ministries of Education to contribute to delivery of education programs, interventions and strategies for the plan period.
His remit includes coordination of periodic monitoring data collection to obtain information on activity implementation, outputs and outcomes, determine adherence to the work plan and methodology, and identify emerging trends and areas for improvement, including the integration of ICT into the education system. More specifically, he is currently supporting the development of an ICT in education policy which is set to be validated in July 2023.
Abdirizak is also leading the monitoring and evaluation section for Somalia’s Emergency Education Drought Response Programme, which is partially funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Accelerated Funds which has been designed by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education to respond to the widespread and deepening drought conditions and resultant negative impacts on school-going children and the education sector.
Abdirizak is particularly keen to engage in an open dialogue with colleagues in the programme and to deepen his knowledge and skills on implementation of ICT in education policy strategies as well as using up-to-date innovative solutions in EdTech to improve learning outcomes within Somalia’s education system.
