Bety Tichauer is the Undersecretary of Network Articulations at the Department of Education of the State of São Paulo, the biggest network in Latin America with 5,300 schools and 3.5 million students. In this role, she coordinates projects that connect schools, teachers, and local communities, creating stronger networks that improve student learning and wellbeing. Her leadership focuses on building bridges across different actors in the education system, ensuring that policies and programs generate real impact in classrooms. Besides that, Bety also oversees School Coexistence and Safety, Education for Students with Special Needs, and the Literacy Project.
She holds a degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas, one of the most prestigious business schools in Brazil, and a specialisation in Marketing from the University of California, Berkeley. Her academic background provided her with a strong foundation in management, strategy, and innovation, which she has applied throughout her career in both the private and public sectors.
Bety has worked in multinational companies, education startups, and third sector organizations. This diverse experience has given her a unique perspective on how to combine efficiency, creativity, and social responsibility. Over the years, she has developed and managed projects that integrate government, civil society, and international partners, always with the goal of expanding opportunities for students and improving access to quality education.
By joining the Fellowship, Bety hopes to exchange ideas with peers from around the world and to learn from innovative practices in education. She wishes to bring new insights back to São Paulo, enriching her current work while sharing the lessons and challenges of managing one the largest education systems in Latin America. Her aspiration is to contribute to the creation of inclusive, effective, and transformative educational policies that prepare students for the future.
