Dr Diana Rubio

Head of STEM Projects - Ministry of Education of the State of Querétaro, Mexico

Diana Rubio, PhD, is a STEM education specialist with a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She has focused her career on STEM education, character education, and innovation with an emphasis on inclusion, diversity, and gender perspective.

Since 2011, Dr. Rubio has worked with the Dirección General de Educación Tecnológica Industrial y de Servicios (DGETI), designing STEM initiatives and delivering lectures that have reached over 456 school leaders responsible for more than 600,000 students nationwide.

She currently leads STEM projects at the Secretariat of Education in Querétaro, where she has developed a statewide STEM ecosystem and implemented the Cibersabiduría program, projected to benefit more than 20,000 students by fostering responsible and respectful digital citizenship to foster the flourishing of students as future leaders. She also teaches in the Master’s program in Science Education at the Universidad Politécnica de Santa Rosa Jáuregui.

Dr. Diana Rubio has led national and international projects as project manager, coordinator, and principal investigator, focusing on STEM education, pedagogical innovation, and the evaluation of 21st-century skills. She has collaborated with organizations such as the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Health Organization, and the Varkey Foundation. Beyond Mexico, she has participated in international forums and projects across Latin America, sharing her expertise and contributing to global discussions on the future of education. These experiences have broadened her perspective and strengthened her ability to design scalable strategies that advance inclusion, innovation, and digital citizenship.

As a Cambridge EdTech Fellow, Diana Rubio hopes to collaborate with peers from around the world, exchange knowledge, and develop innovative strategies that can enhance the role of technology in education to create more inclusive and effective learning environments to expand scalable solutions that strengthen STEM education and digital citizenship across Mexico
