Dr Nagla Ali is an Associate Professor at Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where she also serves as the Graduate Studies Program Chair. In this role, she leads the development and quality assurance of graduate programmes, supports faculty and students in research and professional practice, and works closely with educational institutions and government partners to strengthen teacher preparation and educational leadership in the UAE. Through her work, she contributes to improving teaching quality, integrating educational technology, and advancing evidence-based educational practices across the education system.
Dr Ali holds a PhD and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida, specialising in educational technology and science education. She is also a certified reviewer for international accreditation bodies, including the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and a certified Pre-K–3 classroom observer using the CLASS framework.
Before joining ECAE, Dr Ali served as an Assistant Professor in Egypt and taught at the University of Florida in the United States. Over the years, she has held several leadership roles, including Head of the Curriculum and Instruction Division, Practicum and Internship Coordinator, and Chair of undergraduate and graduate academic programmes. She has also worked closely with schools, ministries and higher education institutions to support teacher training, curriculum development and educational innovation.
Dr Ali is an active researcher with numerous publications in leading international journals and books. Her work focuses on teacher preparation, learning environments, and the integration of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital tools in education. She has led several funded research projects aimed at improving teaching quality and student learning outcomes in the UAE and internationally.
Through her participation in the Fellowship, Dr Ali hopes to collaborate with global education leaders, exchange knowledge and innovative practices, and contribute to advancing the teaching profession. She is particularly interested in strengthening research-informed policies and building sustainable systems that support teachers and enhance learning opportunities for students worldwide.
