Dr Wissam Zahreddine is a Senior Education Leader and Head of Science Curriculum at the UAE Ministry of Education. He holds a PhD in Catalysis and Bio-Resourced Chemistry from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 and the Lebanese University.
Dr Zahreddine leads national curriculum development across STEM disciplines and drives strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching quality and student outcomes. His work focuses on curriculum restructuring, high-impact national programmes and integrating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to prepare students for future challenges while ensuring alignment with the UAE national strategies and global standards.
With over seven years of senior leadership experience, he has held key roles such as Deputy Director of the STEM and Vocational Department for Strategy and Future, Acting Director of the Science Subjects Curriculum Department, and Head of Computing, Creative Design and Innovation Curriculum. Dr Zahreddine has led national curriculum reforms, designed future-oriented frameworks, and collaborated with international organisations including ACER, WestEd, Code.org, McGraw Hill, IRENA, Ibtikar and ALEF. His initiatives include restructuring educational streams, designing flexible elective pathways, and leading national programmes such as Project-Based Learning and Assessment (PBLA). He has also championed learning prioritisation, gap recovery strategies, dual credit and capstone programmes, and the integration of AI across Learning AI, Learning for AI and Learning with AI.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr Zahreddine has over a decade of humanitarian service with the Lebanese Red Cross, serving as Head of the Technical Committee, Emergency Medical Technician and Trainer. This experience reinforces his commitment to resilience, equity and human-centred approaches in education.
Through the Fellowship, Dr Zahreddine aims to advance his expertise in education technology and policy innovation, collaborating with global experts to design scalable, equitable digital learning solutions for more resilient and future-ready education systems.
