Gerand Ventura Inoa

Director of the National Program of Educational Leadership (PLE-RD) - Ministry of Education, Dominican Republic

Gerand Ventura Inoa is an educational leader from the Dominican Republic, currently serving as Director of the National Program of Educational Leadership (PLE-RD) at the Ministry of Education. In this role, he works to strengthen student leadership, debate, and civic participation programs across the country. His efforts have contributed to creating spaces where young people engage in critical thinking, democratic dialogue, and collaborative problem-solving, helping to shape the next generation of leaders in the Dominican educational system.

Gerand holds academic training in public management, educational leadership, and Caribbean history, which allows him to combine institutional, pedagogical, and historical perspectives in his work. This interdisciplinary background has shaped his vision of education as a transformative force for democracy, social equity, and sustainable development.

Before assuming his current position, Gerand gained experience as a teacher, mentor, and coordinator of youth programs. His leadership has been central in organizing national and international debate competitions, supporting the creation of school leadership clubs, and promoting student participation in decision-making processes. These initiatives reflect his belief that empowering students as active citizens is essential for the future of the region.

As a Fellow, Gerand hopes to broaden his perspective on global challenges in education, strengthen his leadership skills, and connect with an international network of innovators. He is eager to contribute to collaborative projects that promote equity, inclusion, and student voice, while also bringing back new tools and practices to enrich the Dominican educational system.
