Lee Lin Yee is a grounded educator who has served in various roles in the Ministry of Education, Singapore. She is an experienced leader in the education sector and believes that education can be a powerful social leveller.
Lin Yee holds a postgraduate diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Institute of Education, Singapore. Before receiving her PGDE, she studied mathematics at the National University of Singapore, graduating with a Bachelor of Science, First Class Honours. She subsequently received her master’s degree in science for her research in construction of constant weight codes.
Currently, Lin Yee is the Divisional Director of the Educational Technology Division, Ministry of Education, Singapore. In her current role, she oversees the implementation of the “Transforming Education through Technology” Masterplan 2030 to ensure that EdTech, when used purposefully and in a well-thought-out manner, can allow learners to reap the benefits of technology while remaining anchored in 21st century competencies.
Lin Yee previously covered the position of Director of the Sciences Branch, Curriculum Planning and Development Division, and Principal of St. Margaret’s Secondary School and various other leadership roles in schools. These experiences have allowed her to understand the use of EdTech from a curriculum design point of view and to be considerate when planning for the implementation of EdTech use in schools.
Through the fellowship programme, Lin Yee hopes to gain a stronger understanding of the potentials and unintended consequences of the use of EdTech in teaching and learning for learners of different ages. She also hopes to gain further insights on how to design the professional development for curriculum planners, school leaders and teachers, and to find ways to use educational research and established processes to monitor and review the effectiveness of EdTech use in Singapore.
