Lucia Acurio is an economist specialised in education and technology, contributing to transforming education so that future generations can thrive as both skilled global citizens with the significant impact by taking action to transition from poverty to prosperity in their communities.
She is CEO of Grupo Edutec and President of Proposito Peru. Edutec is an organisation which provides EdTech strategies to develop essential skills on students, enhancing teacher’s methods while ensuring effective integration of technology to improve learning outcomes. Proposito Peru is an NGO focused on getting zero children without learning at 2030, emphasising the relevance of providing not only access to school but ensuring quality education to achieve their potential.
Lucia has been the Director of Technological Innovation at the Ministry of Education, from where she designed the national policy ‘English, doors to the world’ and the Digital Technologies Strategy in Education.
Along her 28 years of experience in digital education and policymaking she has contributed to the launch of significant programs in Ecuador, Peru, and other Latin American countries to develop digital skills in teachers and students, as well as to change the lives of citizens in vulnerable conditions through training programs to develop their talent and fit into future-proof opportunities.
Today, Lucia is a key stakeholder articulator of the Academy, Government, Civil society, Business, and Multilateral organisations towards the design of educational policies that generate a real impact on the country’s development.
Lucia has received several international recognitions. Recently, she got the 2025 “Women in Tech Lifetime Achievement Award”, Latam Chapter, for her lifelong dedication to the lasting impact in technology in education.
Through the EdTech Fellowship, Lucia Acurio seeks to obtain valuable insights to expand her expertise in impacting education through technology and innovation, as well as connecting with professionals from various fields, learning from their experiences while collaborating from her own ones.
