Mederbek Omurbekov holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and Political Technologies from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
In his current role, Mederbek serves as Chief Expert in the Sectoral Policy Department, where he contributes to the development and analysis of key decisions made by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers. He has been part of the Directorate since 2021, where he first worked as an Expert before assuming his current position in November 2023.
Prior to this, he gained extensive experience in the public sector, including roles in the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Commission on Religious Affairs. He has worked in various capacities such as Chief Specialist, Senior Specialist, and Acting Expert, focusing on policy areas like education, science, and religion.
Mederbek is a co-author of several important regulatory legal acts, including the Laws of the Kyrgyz Republic ‘On Education’ and ‘On Science’ and the President’s international scholarship programme ‘El Ümütü’. He has also contributed to publications like The History of Religious Culture and other academic compilations.
He is passionate about advancing public policy in education, science, and innovation. During his career, he has addressed challenges such as integrating digital tools in education and enhancing the professional development of teachers and researchers. His work continues to shape key policy reforms in Kyrgyzstan’s education and scientific sectors.
