Executive Director, Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), Ghana

Mr Nana Gyamfi Adwabour is Executive Director at the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) in Ghana. He has an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Nana’s mandate is to infuse ICT into the pre-tertiary education system. His previous projects have included the introduction of an offline learning management system (LMS) called iBox and an online version called iCampus. His work also includes training on digital pedagogy for teachers, hardware, software, connectivity and content. He works closely with international organisations like UNICEF and UNESCO on the adaptation and implementation of technology enabled education projects.

The key challenges Nana hopes to focus on during the fellowship programme include overarching EdTech policy framework; increasing connectivity from 70% to deploy EdTech solutions; addressing the concerning digital divide; locally relevant Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Complementary Basic Education (CBE) content and digital capacity building for teachers.

Nana is keen to improve the accessibility of digital solutions in the education system in Ghana, develop a sustained and inclusive strategy to transition the system towards hybrid learning, and to build a strong digital skills syllabus for teachers.
